New Years Resolution In Style

New Year's Resolution In Style This isn't my normal blog, sharing fashion tips and styling tricks.  Instead I'm sharing the impact a stylist can have on your New Year's goals. For years and years New Years has always been a time to think about areas we can improve, spending time differently, manifesting new goals, focusing on change. Often, there is an area of those goals that is about eating healthy, going to the gym, getting some type of exercise and so on. I think all of those ever so popular goals can be great, but they are goals that sometimes fall short as you're getting into the 2nd or 3rd month of the year. Wouldn't it be nice to instead focus on goals that can be maintained through out the year, and more importantly choose something that can make you feel great with out having to change your current life. One of the best parts about being a stylist is hearing how confident and elevated clients feel and look after working with a stylist, they don't need to lose weight or be taken out of their comfort zone, instead the stylist (me!) takes time to get to know the clients personal goals. Finding out what they will feel comfortable in and most importantly I will teach clients how to find clothes that fit great

Styling Holiday Events

Styling Holiday Events Holiday parties, gala's, vacation weddings, events have made a comeback and finding the perfect outfit has never been harder! Why? When you haven't needed an outfit for a special gathering or big event for the past few years you'll notice things have changed. Walking through the typical stores downtown, they have very little options, buying less event & party pieces ever since the  pandemic.  Also, you may find your shape or size has changed over time and wonder what style or fit you should even be trying! These challenges are the reason I created a virtual event shopping package, you may think why virtual? With stores not having the options or styles they once had, I found online has an abundance of choices.  How does styling for an event work? It's when Mabelle Style sources head to toe personalized outfits for you, ensuring the small details really matter. The perfect look for an event takes time but also finding the jewelry, shoe & hand bag to correlate with the outfit can be even harder.  With this custom package clients receive 3-4 head to toe outfits personalized for them to shop and the best part is receiving a visual of each look on a mood board, this shows how the entire look ties together. I love a good visual and more importantly I love a great

Fall 2023 Trends As we head into my favorite fashion season, Fall! I wanted to share what styles and trends are worth checking out for 2023.  Remember, before you dive into shopping each season, make sure you first established a foundation / capsule wardrobe. That is the best way to begin building outfits and creating a well rounded wardrobe. Once you have the initial foundation pieces, you can add seasonal updates to keep your look fresh and up to date. Never forget to shop with intention as well, plan ahead and make a seasonal shopping list before you hit the stores.  Neutrals and monochromatic looks are trending this Fall but in my personal opinion, neither are trends, they are key styling tip that should always be taken into account when creating outfits. With that being said, to keep your wardrobe up to date this season I've broken down trends based off three areas of focus: colours, fabrics  and fits for the season.  Colours With the exception of beautiful camels, browns and creamy neutrals trending, bold colours are big as well like reds, burgundy, magenta and shades of yellow. You can add seasonal colours into your wardrobe via accessories (shoes or handbags) or add one or two great apparel pieces into the mix. Check out ways to style the

Personal Stylist | Ageism In Fashion

Ageism In Fashion Mabelle Style is known for its inclusivity.  Styling services follow the motto: Age is just a number, size is just a number, personal stylists work with everyone. I was recently visiting my 74 yr old Aunt, she has always been stylish. I’ve never forgotten the pair of black patent pointed oxfords she gave me when I was 12! I finally wore the same shoe size as her, a pair from her fancy shoe collection at that time meant everything to me. During this recent visit she mentioned how rare it is to see stylish inspiration for seniors as she still loves fashion but everywhere she looks through ads & products, they appear to be geared towards a younger demographic. This surprised me at first because I often work with clients 65+.  Then, it occurred to me ….. my 65+ clients are pleasantly surprised at the stores where I prep their new outfits. It’s because societal expectations often dictate what is considered "age-appropriate" dressing. For instance, some people think that older individuals should dress conservatively or in a way that conforms to certain stereotypes regarding aging, rather than embracing new or trendy styles. Mabelle Style’s clients are never styled to stereotypes as my goal is to ensure that each one looks on trend, stylish with a wardrobe that correlates to their personal lifestyle, no matter the

Style Tips For Business Casual

Style Tips For Business Casual What does business casual mean to you? More and more busy workplace / office environments are shifting to a business casual dress code.  The challenge with business casual style is that the style can be interpreted in many different ways, often the casual part becomes the main focus on ones outfit. If you're navigating your style around creating a business casual look and don't know where to start, follow some basic steps below to get started! The Little Details The smallest details can change an entire outfit from unprofessional & schleppy to polished & approachable.  Take tucking for example, it's a simple 2 second step when getting ready in the morning that transforms your look. It could be as simple as a little half tuck to a full tuck & belted. This small detail not only creates a waist it also cleans up your overall look. A few more... *Ensure the fabrics on your clothes aren't looking weathered or have pills. *Denim doesn't have rips or tears *Shoes are polished and clean. *Apparel is pressed with no wrinkles *Add minimal accessories, like a simple necklace, earring or classic watch *Make sure you know your businesses culture as it goes hand in hand with your business casual outfits Neutrals

Spring Trends 2023 As you dive into this blog and see what the latest trends are for this upcoming Spring/Summer season please remember, don't go overboard with seasonal trends. Always build your wardrobe off foundation pieces (think capsule style wardrobe) then each season sprinkle in a trend or two that compliments your personal style and current wardrobe, making it easy to create interchangeable outfits. Also, make note that not every trend is for everyone! Adding seasonal trends can freshen up  your wardrobe and keep your personal style looking current. If you're someone who isn't interested in trends and enjoys adding classic pieces each season take note, loafers, cool sneakers, vegan leather and oversize looks are still on point and will easily keep your wardrobe feeling fresh & up to date. Check out some of my favorite trends to add into your wardrobe this Spring/Summer! Ballet Flats This is a trend that I'm definitely happy has made a comeback, I remember wearing my Tory Burch soles down to nothing in the early 2000's. Tory Burch has stayed consistent with her ballet flat the Reva, it's stuck around even when flats weren't on trend, because as much as the style seemed dated they were comfortable! When a trend comes back full circle and is super comfy how can we

Styling For You 2023

Styling For You 2023 As we head into 2023 there has been a lot of talk about what the New Year's resolution will be or what you're going to set goals and focus on. We have heard friends and family say that they will be joining a new gym or starting a new diet. There is nothing wrong with that thought process, but what if the resolution was more focused on feeling & looking great in your existing size & shape;  no need to change, just elevate. One of the most rewarding moments I have heard from clients who take the leap with a stylist, is how confident they feel once they have a wardrobe that fits their personal body shape after they learn all the little styling details on how to elevate their day-to-day outfitting. When I say inclusive sizing, I am referring to clients working with Mabelle Style who range in sizes from size 00-24. They share the same result, feeling great in their own skin once the service is complete. A main question from clients who are inquiring about hiring a stylist is ... 'Have you worked with a client that's my size?' This question frequently comes up regarding all different sizes especially  from women 12-14. To give you an idea,  sizes 10-14 were the most common sizes with Mabelle style
