Styling For The Holidays

The holidays are fast approaching and this season seems to be the time where holiday events & parties are back in action! When dressing up for the holidays there can be a range of events, from family dinners in, friends gatherings at the local hot spot, work parties and gala’s.

I thought I’d focus this blog on the most requested events happening, I wasn’t sure what everyone was going to be up to this winter so I decided to do a poll on Instagram, the results were an equal divide of people for all types of parties!  With that feedback, I’m going to help you with some styling ideas for all holiday gatherings coming up. If you feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, have a read through the styling inspiration and tips below. Still stuck? Family Home Gathering

This winter are you planning to attend cozy at home gatherings or Christmas dinners with the family? If this is you, you’re probably thinking what can I wear that is casual but still has a little holiday sparkle. I like to suggest a great holiday sweater or a dressier blouse with some denim (with stretch of course!)  Also, be mindful if you’re the cook for this type of event you will probably be running on the warmer side,  skip the sweater idea and go straight the dressier top. Check out some styling inspo below.

Friends Evening Out

Friends & family that want to get out of the house for a holiday gathering at one of your local hot spots. This usually entails kicking up your wardrobe a smidge but nothing to over the top fancy. I like to suggest a trouser or denim with a holiday top or flip it around and have a skirt or pant with some sparkle and a top that is more of an approachable everyday style. If you’re wanting to do skip the two piece and have a one and done outfit, try a classic slip dress. Check out some styling inspo below.

The Work Party

It’s been a couple of years since you have had to gather with co-workers in an out of office environment. You want to stick to the theme of the event and have a style that is cool & fashionable but maybe not stand out to much, keeping true to your personal style. This type of event is great place to leave the work wear at home and step into a holiday dress or even a two piece (think holiday suit) A LBD (little black dress) is always a great option when in doubt and style it up with some fun jewelry like chandelier earrings. Check out some styling inspo below.

The Gala

A gala could be an event for work, a fundraiser or a holiday gathering with friends. Gala’s have a dress code that often entail gowns or black tie type theme’s. When looking for an outfit for this type of event the most important area to focus on is finding something that fits your body shape, this is a great point for all styling but especially when your looking for a elevated dress/gown/jumper or suit. You can try on a million gowns but if they don’t fit to your shape you’ll never feel comfortable. Check out some of my favorite gala looks below.
