Fall 2023 Trends

As we head into my favorite fashion season, Fall! I wanted to share what styles and trends are worth checking out for 2023.

Remember, before you dive into shopping each season, make sure you first established a foundation / capsule wardrobe. That is the best way to begin building outfits and creating a well rounded wardrobe. Once you have the initial foundation pieces, you can add seasonal updates to keep your look fresh and up to date. Never forget to shop with intention as well, plan ahead and make a seasonal shopping list before you hit the stores.

Neutrals and monochromatic looks are trending this Fall but in my personal opinion, neither are trends, they are key styling tip that should always be taken into account when creating outfits. With that being said, to keep your wardrobe up to date this season I’ve broken down trends based off three areas of focus: colours, fabrics  and fits for the season.

Colours

With the exception of beautiful camels, browns and creamy neutrals trending, bold colours are big as well like reds, burgundy, magenta and shades of yellow. You can add seasonal colours into your wardrobe via accessories (shoes or handbags) or add one or two great apparel pieces into the mix. Check out ways to style the colours of the season below.

Fabrics

I don’t think there is alot of change with the popularity of the current fabrics on trend. Denim is still going strong, especially in the accessory category (think denim shoes & handbags!) Satin is another addition to keep your wardrobe up to date and on trend in either dresses, blouses or trousers. Leather or vegan leather is another consistent style of fabric that has been around for awhile as well. Outside of specific fabric textures, in general you can’t go wrong with either having fabrics that are exquisitely tailored or have effortless movement and flow.

Fits

Peplum is back! I do feel like 2010’s wasn’t that long ago but here we are again with the peplum.  Pencil skirts (midi – maxi length) are a great updated style for the season, especially a vegan leather version.  Wondering what shoe works with the skirts? Try a tall boot with a kitten heel.  The pencil skirt also ties into the office wear / power suiting trend happening right now. What I love about the power looks is that the fabrics can be one extreme to another, lots of movement, oversize or sharp and tailored, all cuts are cool right now. I’d suggest going with what suits your body shape best.
