Why Fashion Stylists Love A Good Blazer

Why Fashion Stylists Love A Good Blazer If you're following fashion stylist's, personal shoppers or an influencer you will notice they tend to have blazers on rotation for an outfit post, photo shoot or even their daily street style. You may ask yourself, why is a blazer so common with style guru's? You may  be thinking it can be to formal or for a work event and not just not your personal style. BUT that is not the case - we as stylists love a great blazer for every style you can imagine! What can a blazer do for your wardrobe & style? (And why we love to incorporate them into your wardrobe!) A perfect fit blazer can create a waist for your shape. If you're wearing some old jeans & a t-shirt pop on a blazer and you've styled up your outfit. Create a full suit with matching pants (add sneakers to dress down the overall look) Want to create multiple outfits with the less is more philosophy? A classic blazer can create many looks by layering with everything in your wardrobe. Don't have a blazer? Start with finding a blazer that fits just right, go for black as your first choice, this colour will mix & match with everything. BACK

Stylist | Elevate Your Next Photo Shoot Over the last couple of years, there has been a surge of work for photographers, with clients needing photos for website & business branding, LinkedIn updates, family shoots, social media and lastly, head shots for the always demanding local film industry. For me, as a stylist, one of the most interesting parts about my job is seeing the elevation happen with clients. Taking their look & how they feel to the next level. When working on photo shoots, it happens in a instant. By putting clients into a new wardrobe that quickly has them feeling confident and looking fabulous really translates in their photos. Having the correct colour, fit and styling details may seem minor to some but I can confidently say will elevate the clients photos to the next level. Fashion Stylist | The Most Requested Look For Male Client’s

Fashion Stylist | The most Requested Look For Male Clients A good number of Mabelle Style's clients have a professional or business background. In regards to our male clients, I find they often work in a job that requires 'minimal' time wearing suits, but they still are required to maintain a professional look. Insert the sports jacket. This has been a go-to look for a large percentage of my clients due to the fact that they are able to wear it to work as well as make it cool for evenings out. When I styled this photo shoot I was excited to share some pictures of this look, so often requested. Style tip * Make sure you find a sports coat that fits! Meaning, have some shape at the waistline and the fabric should have some 'give' to avoid feeling constricted when you do activities or when driving. * Dress up the sports jacket by adding a dress shoe or give a cool casual vibe by investing in a sneaker, such as this pair of Goodman sneakers. Style Consultant | Success With Online Shopping

Style Consultant | Success With Online Shopping Normally, the month of April would be the beginning of the peak season for personal shopping.  Stylists tend to be quite busy between April - June as clients begin to sport some light weight Spring / Summer wardrobes.  Because things have shifted and times have changed recently, with our favorite stores all being closed the past few weeks, this has drastically altered how I (and many others) have adapted to work. A few of my clients have chosen not to wait for the stores to reopen and are using Mabelle Style's Online Personal Shopping Package, I thought I'd share the breakdown and give you more insight regarding it's 4 simple steps if your currently interested in working with a fashion stylist. Step 1 - Client & Stylist discuss and create a personal shopping list for the season. Step 2 -Stylist Proceeds to create a mood (pin) board to give the client a visual of the overall styles they will be working with. Step 3 - Once the shopping list & mood board have been approved, the stylist will then gather together an email identifying each category from your shopping list. Under each category will be links to shop - depending on the time frame of your package you can receive anywhere from 5-25 items per category. Once the client has their shopping

Personal Stylist | Avoid Impulse Buys!

Personal Stylist - Avoid Impulse Buys! Impulse purchases will be one of the main reasons you struggle with piecing together outfits with-in your wardrobe. These items take up closet space and usually don't add value to creating a full look. If you tend to have a lot of items but not actual outfits than it's more than likely you shop on impulse. What is an impulse buy? An item you bought because the price was right, something you purchased due to it being very on trend in that moment or pressure from friends to make a purchase because they loved the item. How can you avoid impulse buys and start buying pieces that will benefit your wardrobe, create outfits and maybe even lead to multi-functional capsule wardrobe. Style tip Never go shopping without a plan! Plan ahead by creating a personal shopping list. This is the first step a personal stylist will do before shopping with each individual client. We create a seasonal list with the client that is cohesive to the needs of their wardrobe. What is missing in the closet that will help build outfits? Those items get added. Next step, what are a couple of items we can add to the list that fall under trends this season? This helps spice up the basics for each

Personal Shopper | Staying Cozy In Sweater Dresses

Whether shopping in stores or shopping online I've noticed a consistent trend from multiple brands, the sweater dress. It has been styled as either a two piece (like the one I'm wearing in this post) or a one piece item. What I love about this particular look is that it keeps us cozy during the winter days with some high boots and a puffer coat or you could also carry it forward to those transitional months (March & April) where it isn't quite warm enough for spring / summer fashions.   Style Tip: replace the boots with a cute sneaker; replace your winter coat with a leather jacket; and now you have a few more months to wear this winter look!     Check out some of my favorite sweater dresses of the season!     BACK TO BLOG LIBRARY

Fashion Stylist | Personal Style For New Year’s Eve

With New Years coming upon us, only two weeks away, we tend to get in a frenzie trying to find the perfect New Years party outfit. If you're having this struggle, try a personal stylist to find you that perfect look!   My personal style has always been clean, minimalistic with a pop of colour, glitz or trend, nothing over the top! I relegated some pieces from the wardrobe and mix-matched with some newness to create a couple of New Years outfits. See these style tips below that I've used to create my own New Years look.   The first outfit is a new black one piece romper from Club Monaco with an open back. The fabric has some great movement to create a fancier vibe. I found in the closet a light flowy black over piece (because I'm always cold!) and a spectacular vintage clutch from an aunt that dates back many years. As well, a pair of nude pumps (a must in every ladies wardrobe) that is the exact colour of my skin.     The second outfit I created, keeping inline with my overall personal style, is more casual but most importantly, very comfortable. The animal print chiffon blouse was a black friday find from a favorite brand of mine, Ganni It's very feminine with the bell sleeve made from accordian fabric. I added

Personal Shopper Shares Gift Ideas For The Ladies

Do you get overwhelmed when you head into the stores to look for holiday gifts? Since I spend the majority of my time in the malls and shopping for the latest fashion styles I thought I should share some of the most common items loved by my clients (falling under a reasonable price point.) Click the images to shop away! This first option, created in partnership with Jillian Harris continues to be a favorite with women, The Melanie Auld (local designer) Adorned Necklace. You can choose any letter in either sterling silver, gold vermeil, 14k gold and add on pave diamonds! The second gift giving option is the perfect black jean. Who doesn't love a jean that feels like a legging, but is actually a jean! This Citizen of Humanity Style Rocket comes in mid rise or high rise and you want the colour plush black. They can be found at Nordstroms, The Bay or Aritzia. The 'plush' is what makes them so soft with lots of stretch! The third option, cashmere at the right price! I find cashmere can be overpriced at times, I finally found a perfect fit cashmere sweater at Nordstroms under their house line Halogen for $118. The fit is a bit looser but not to lose and they offer a ton of fabulous colour options and most importantly its sooo soft. <link not

Personal Stylist | Holiday Looks

It's that 'special season' time of year again! Whether a holiday office party, a big Christmas dinner or a glamorous New Years Eve event, it's time to begin the search ... look through your wardrobe or trek through the stores to find that perfect look. I personally have styled two holiday looks using my favorite satin pant from Aritzia. It is not necessary to wear your best dress to feel holiday ready!     Tip 1 - Save time on finding that perfect item - reach out to a local personal stylist to do the hunting for you! For a few tips and some of my personal fave holiday looks of the season, see below.   Tip 2 - Review and take a closer look at your own wardrobe. I have noticed during my wardrobe consults that a number of clients have one or ten dresses (or special pieces) that have only been worn once. They feel uncomfortable wearing it a second time because they tend to be with some of the same people at different gatherings. My recommendations for this dilema are two things; first, consider accessorizing by giving each outfit a new look. This could be achieved by adding a belt or velvet blazer, head piece or jewelry. The second option is to take the dresses to consignment and then use those earnings towards a
