New Years Resolution In Style

New Year's Resolution In Style This isn't my normal blog, sharing fashion tips and styling tricks.  Instead I'm sharing the impact a stylist can have on your New Year's goals. For years and years New Years has always been a time to think about areas we can improve, spending time differently, manifesting new goals, focusing on change. Often, there is an area of those goals that is about eating healthy, going to the gym, getting some type of exercise and so on. I think all of those ever so popular goals can be great, but they are goals that sometimes fall short as you're getting into the 2nd or 3rd month of the year. Wouldn't it be nice to instead focus on goals that can be maintained through out the year, and more importantly choose something that can make you feel great with out having to change your current life. One of the best parts about being a stylist is hearing how confident and elevated clients feel and look after working with a stylist, they don't need to lose weight or be taken out of their comfort zone, instead the stylist (me!) takes time to get to know the clients personal goals. Finding out what they will feel comfortable in and most importantly I will teach clients how to find clothes that fit great

Shop Designer Handbags

Shop Designer Handbags Designer handbags, some would think why on earth would I ever spend that kind of money on a handbag? Others wonder how can I introduce a luxury handbag into my wardrobe, where do I start? And then there is some who have been building a specific designer handbag collection over the years that continues to increase in value. (Think Chanel) The most important area of expertise I can help with here, is to first share why I think you should purchase a designer bag and secondly how to take the first step (you can always hire a stylist to guide you as well;) Why I think having a designer handbag is good for your wardrobe: It doesn't matter what the outfit is that you're wearing,  it could be as simple as a $15 t-shirt &  some classic jeans, a designer bag will have a style impact/elevation to your overall look.  The bag doesn't need to be heavy in branding or logo's, like some might think. The goal is to have lux fabrics, rich colours (camel, cream & black are perfect for your first purchase) and a shape/size that works for your lifestyle. Overall your new bag will take your personal style and kick it up a notch. When taking the first step to making a purchase like this, you want to think about the style

Stylist | Dressing For Your Next Event

Styling for your next event Wedding guest, in a wedding party, fundraiser, gala, milestone birthday, events have made a comeback and finding the perfect outfit has never been harder! Why? When you haven't needed an outfit for a special gathering or big event for the past three years you'll notice things have changed. Walking through the typical stores like Nordstroms or The Bay, they have very little options, buying less event & party pieces ever since the  pandemic.  Also, you may find your shape or size has changed over time and wonder what style or fit you should even be trying! These challenges are the reason I created a virtual event shopping package, you may think why virtual? With stores not having the options or styles they once had, I found online has an abundance of choices.  How does styling for an event work? It's when Mabelle Style sources head to toe personalized outfits for you, ensuring the small details really matter. The perfect look for an event takes time but also finding the jewelry, shoe & hand bag to correlate with the outfit can be even harder.  With this custom package clients receive 3-4 head to toe outfits personalized for them to shop and the best part is receiving a visual of each look on a mood board, this shows how the entire look ties together. Fashion Stylist | Curated Personal Shopping List

My Curated Seasonal Personal Shopping List I recently did a poll on Instagram for what followers would like to see more of and I received an overwhelming response to  share my curated personal shopping list for this Fall. Firstly, why do I make seasonal personal shopping lists for myself and Mabelle Style clients? It's a great way to avoid impulse buys and bad purchases as well as keeps you from buying more then actually need. When you get to a place where you have a wardrobe filled with items you not only love but you actually wear,  you can then follow a curated shopping list each season to shop for items that work with your current wardrobe. You may have a few staples / basics that need replacing (like my boring black puffer coat you'll see below) and you will likely want to add a couple of trendy items to keep the wardrobe refreshed each season.  I also use a unit amount as a guideline so I don't overbuy a specific category. I personally prefer less is more in my wardrobe and I like to invest on better quality items, but it did take me awhile to get my wardrobe to that ideal place.  Once I completed my wardrobe edit last week and pulled some items to consign, I began my list.

Stylist | Elevate Your Next Photo Shoot

Stylist | Elevate Your Next Photo Shoot Over the last couple of years, there has been a surge of work for photographers, with clients needing photos for website & business branding, LinkedIn updates, family shoots, social media and lastly, head shots for the always demanding local film industry. For me, as a stylist, one of the most interesting parts about my job is seeing the elevation happen with clients. Taking their look & how they feel to the next level. When working on photo shoots, it happens in a instant. By putting clients into a new wardrobe that quickly has them feeling confident and looking fabulous really translates in their photos. Having the correct colour, fit and styling details may seem minor to some but I can confidently say will elevate the clients photos to the next level. I've shared some examples below to give you an idea, all recent work with local photographers. for LinkedIn Head shot for Business Branding & Website for Social Media for Head Shots for Family

Fashion Consultant | My Spring Personal Shopping List

Fashion Consultant | My Spring Personal Shopping List September 13, 2019 Each season I create a shopping list for myself with what I need (and a couple of wants) to add to my wardrobe. A similar shopping list is created for all Mabelle Style clients. The reason a shopping list is so important is to support clients from making bad purchases, buying items you do not need and help avoid impulse shopping. Check out my personal shopping list for this Spring / Summer season as well as some inspo below! Be mindful that every client's shopping list can look different based on their personal style and needs. I usually focus on a refresh of basics and a couple of very seasonal/trendy pieces to kick up my overall neutral wardrobe. This season I didn't add any accessories such as jewelry, hats, handbags as I felt I currently have a good assortment. BACK TO BLOG LIBRARY
