Spring Trends 2024 I want to take a different approach on sharing what trends are happening this season. If you follow along or work with me you'll know I'm not a huge believer in adding an over abundance of trendy pieces in to your wardrobe each season. Normally I'd share a list of very specific trends that are happening this season but sometimes it can be hard for a client to know how to translate specific trends into their everyday wardrobe or for their personal fit and shape. To give you an example of what runway trends are happening this season; sheer, short shorts, metallic, flapper, 90's, fabrics with big roses & outfits that are all white. When I see this list I think to myself, hmmm, how much of those trends am I going to incorporate into my capsule style wardrobe this season? I for sure won't be adding all those trends, but I will incorporate some, styled in ways that will keep my wardrobe both fresh and up to date this season, while maintaining my minimalist, classic style. To show you how I'm doing this, I've put together my shopping list of pieces & styles you'll see added into my personal wardrobe this season. New Years Resolution In Style

New Year's Resolution In Style This isn't my normal blog, sharing fashion tips and styling tricks. Instead I'm sharing the impact a stylist can have on your New Year's goals. For years and years New Years has always been a time to think about areas we can improve, spending time differently, manifesting new goals, focusing on change. Often, there is an area of those goals that is about eating healthy, going to the gym, getting some type of exercise and so on. I think all of those ever so popular goals can be great, but they are goals that sometimes fall short as you're getting into the 2nd or 3rd month of the year. Wouldn't it be nice to instead focus on goals that can be maintained through out the year, and more importantly choose something that can make you feel great with out having to change your current life. One of the best parts about being a stylist is hearing how confident and elevated clients feel and look after working with a stylist, they don't need to lose weight or be taken out of their comfort zone, instead the stylist (me!) takes time to get to know the clients personal goals. Fall 2023 Shoe Trends Being a fashionista, I've never forgotten my first big purchase. It was back in the early 90s when I purchased a pair of red patent Dr Martens. I put them on layaway at a local boutique store in Victoria. Each weekend I would work at my mom's design studio and make $25, which would then go straight to the boutique to keep my dream shoes set aside. It took 5 weeks before I went home with my $135 Dr Martens, a pretty big purchase for being in grade 7! That was the beginning of an ongoing shoe addiction. I always say one of the easiest ways to keep your wardrobe fresh and up to date is to ensure you have an updated style of shoe each season. Here we are 30 years later and I just purchased my second 'ever' pair of red shoes, my first pair of Chanel's. Fall 2023 Trends As we head into my favorite fashion season, Fall! I wanted to share what styles and trends are worth checking out for 2023. Remember, before you dive into shopping each season, make sure you first established a foundation / capsule wardrobe. That is the best way to begin building outfits and creating a well rounded wardrobe. Once you have the initial foundation pieces, you can add seasonal updates to keep your look fresh and up to date. Never forget to shop with intention as well, plan ahead and make a seasonal shopping list before you hit the stores. Neutrals and monochromatic looks are trending this Fall but in my personal opinion, neither are trends, they are key styling tip that should always be taken into account when creating outfits. With that being said, to keep your wardrobe up to date this season I've broken down trends based off three areas of focus: colours, fabrics and fits for the season. Colours With the exception of beautiful camels, browns and creamy neutrals trending, bold colours are big as well like reds, burgundy, magenta and shades of yellow. Spring Trends 2023 As you dive into this blog and see what the latest trends are for this upcoming Spring/Summer season please remember, don't go overboard with seasonal trends. Always build your wardrobe off foundation pieces (think capsule style wardrobe) then each season sprinkle in a trend or two that compliments your personal style and current wardrobe, making it easy to create interchangeable outfits.
