New Year's Resolution In Style This isn't my normal blog, sharing fashion tips and styling tricks. Instead I'm sharing the impact a stylist can have on your New Year's goals. For years and years New Years has always been a time to think about areas we can improve, spending time differently, manifesting new goals, focusing on change. Often, there is an area of those goals that is about eating healthy, going to the gym, getting some type of exercise and so on. I think all of those ever so popular goals can be great, but they are goals that sometimes fall short as you're getting into the 2nd or 3rd month of the year. Wouldn't it be nice to instead focus on goals that can be maintained through out the year, and more importantly choose something that can make you feel great with out having to change your current life. One of the best parts about being a stylist is hearing how confident and elevated clients feel and look after working with a stylist, they don't need to lose weight or be taken out of their comfort zone, instead the stylist (me!) takes time to get to know the clients personal goals. Finding out what they will feel comfortable in and most importantly I will teach clients how to find clothes that fit great

Style Tips For Spring Having trends in your wardrobe or trying to be trendy isn't always the answer to being stylish or fashionable. I like to suggest that clients first focus on a well rounded wardrobe that doesn't evolve around trends, basics & investment pieces are much more important. That being said, regardless of how minimal your wardrobe may be, having elements from current trends is important to add in a foundation or capsule wardrobe to keep your style fresh & updated. Keep in mind some trends stick around for awhile and can often be considered investment pieces, but I wouldn't suggest packing your closet every season with all the current trends. Remember not every trend is for everyone! Check out some of my favorite style trends for Spring 2021 below. Updated Trench Coat The classic trench coat is getting a do-over this season with new details to elevate the style. Keep an eye out for bold shoulders, cinched waists and over-sized cuts giving lots of movement to a traditionally structured spring coat. Why Fashion Stylists Love A Good Blazer If you're following fashion stylist's, personal shoppers or an influencer you will notice they tend to have blazers on rotation for an outfit post, photo shoot or even their daily street style. You may ask yourself, why is a blazer so common with style guru's? You may be thinking it can be to formal or for a work event and not just not your personal style. Fashion Stylist | The most Requested Look For Male Clients A good number of Mabelle Style's clients have a professional or business background. In regards to our male clients, I find they often work in a job that requires 'minimal' time wearing suits, but they still are required to maintain a professional look. Insert the sports jacket. This has been a go-to look for a large percentage of my clients due to the fact that they are able to wear it to work as well as make it cool for evenings out. When I styled this photo shoot I was excited to share some pictures of this look, so often requested. Style tip * Make sure you find a sports coat that fits! Meaning, have some shape at the waistline and the fabric should have some 'give' to avoid feeling constricted when you do activities or when driving. * Dress up the sports jacket by adding a dress shoe or give a cool casual vibe by investing in a sneaker, such as this pair of Goodman sneakers. Fashion Consultant | My Spring Personal Shopping List September 13, 2019 Each season I create a shopping list for myself with what I need (and a couple of wants) to add to my wardrobe. A similar shopping list is created for all Mabelle Style clients. The reason a shopping list is so important is to support clients from making bad purchases, buying items you do not need and help avoid impulse shopping. Check out my personal shopping list for this Spring / Summer season as well as some inspo below! Be mindful that every client's shopping list can look different based on their personal style and needs. I usually focus on a refresh of basics and a couple of very seasonal/trendy pieces to kick up my overall neutral wardrobe. Personal Stylist - Avoid Impulse Buys! Impulse purchases will be one of the main reasons you struggle with piecing together outfits with-in your wardrobe. These items take up closet space and usually don't add value to creating a full look. If you tend to have a lot of items but not actual outfits than it's more than likely you shop on impulse. What is an impulse buy? An item you bought because the price was right, something you purchased due to it being very on trend in that moment or pressure from friends to make a purchase because they loved the item. How can you avoid impulse buys and start buying pieces that will benefit your wardrobe, create outfits and maybe even lead to multi-functional capsule wardrobe. Style tip Never go shopping without a plan! Plan ahead by creating a personal shopping list. This is the first step a personal stylist will do before shopping with each individual client. We create a seasonal list with the client that is cohesive to the needs of their wardrobe. What is missing in the closet that will help build outfits? Those items get added. Whether shopping in stores or shopping online I've noticed a consistent trend from multiple brands, the sweater dress. It has been styled as either a two piece (like the one I'm wearing in this post) or a one piece item. What I love about this particular look is that it keeps us cozy during the winter days with some high boots and a puffer coat or you could also carry it forward to those transitional months (March & April) where it isn't quite warm enough for spring / summer fashions. Style Tip: replace the boots with a cute sneaker; replace your winter coat with a leather jacket; and now you have a few more months to wear this winter look! Fashion Stylist | Personal Style For New Year’s Eve

With New Years coming upon us, only two weeks away, we tend to get in a frenzie trying to find the perfect New Years party outfit. If you're having this struggle, try a personal stylist to find you that perfect look! My personal style has always been clean, minimalistic with a pop of colour, glitz or trend, nothing over the top! I relegated some pieces from the wardrobe and mix-matched with some newness to create a couple of New Years outfits. See these style tips below that I've used to create my own New Years look. The first outfit is a new black one piece romper from Club Monaco with an open back. The fabric has some great movement to create a fancier vibe. I found in the closet a light flowy black over piece (because I'm always cold!) and a spectacular vintage clutch from an aunt that dates back many years. As well, a pair of nude pumps (a must in every ladies wardrobe) that is the exact colour of my skin. The second outfit I created, keeping inline with my overall personal style, is more casual but most importantly, very comfortable. It's that 'special season' time of year again! Whether a holiday office party, a big Christmas dinner or a glamorous New Years Eve event, it's time to begin the search ... look through your wardrobe or trek through the stores to find that perfect look. I personally have styled two holiday looks using my favorite satin pant from Aritzia. It is not necessary to wear your best dress to feel holiday ready! Tip 1 - Save time on finding that perfect item - reach out to a local personal stylist to do the hunting for you! For a few tips and some of my personal fave holiday looks of the season, see below. Tip 2 - Review and take a closer look at your own wardrobe. I have noticed during my wardrobe consults that a number of clients have one or ten dresses (or special pieces) that have only been worn once. They feel uncomfortable wearing it a second time because they tend to be with some of the same people at different gatherings. My recommendations for this dilema are two things; first, consider accessorizing by giving each outfit a new look. This could be achieved by adding a belt or velvet blazer, head piece or jewelry.
