Personal Shopper – Need A Dress?

Do you have any events coming up? Wondering what to wear? Or what I hear most commonly is “I don’t have anything to wear!”  When events come rolling around on the calendar from weddings to tv appearances, whatever it may be you usually think, ugh, I have nothing to wear or I have to head out into the mall and find something new.

Recently we did a personal shop for just that, dresses! This particular client has more than one occasion during the year she needs dresses,  we pull numerous options to fulfill a handful of upcoming events. This type of shop saves hours of her time in the mall trying to find looks – she spent a maximum 2 hours with Mabelle Style and left the mall with 5 new styles for upcoming appearances.  Check out a few pictures of some of our fave choices below!

Personal Shopper – Ready For Spring

Photographer: Christine Pienaar

It hasn’t seemed appropriate to blog about Spring trends quite yet, with the continued snow falls that occur every couple of weeks in Vancouver! Unusual weather for us this winter but I’m going to ignore the most recent snowfall (today!) and start talking about Spring Fashion :)

Trench coats have been a staple for women’s fashion every year but this year it’s not just a staple its a big trend from the runway! Lots of oversized, loose fitting non traditional style trench’s have been seen everywhere. I paired my loose light weight http://www.aritzia.com trench with a basic cotton T and some shredded baggy boyfriend style denim. I love the loose fitting light weight fashion trends like this look,  but to avoid keeping it from becoming frumpy I always add a heal.

T-shirt: Club Monaco
Denim: AG

Mabelle Style Is Celebrating 10 Years In Business!

Photography: Christine Pienaar
Cake: Nomsbymon

The love of Fashion has been in my blood since birth, inheriting this passion from my grandmother, Mabelle who had been a fashion designer in her youth; a person I may have never met but have carried her legacy on.

About 10 years ago, in February, 2006, I took the leap from retail work into the entrepreneurship of small business ownership. Taking into consideration my business and fashion education studies, my true passion, I put it altogether into a business plan. This was before popular blogging and social media became mainstream, but what I did create for ‘online’ was a silhouette and a service breakdown on a webpage for the new business. This basic site partnered my experience in styling with my work in the service industry being the perfect combination that created an amazing clientele list. I am so thankful for the longevity of these relationships and experiences, which have been remarkable and very special for Mabelle Style. It has always been my pleasure to assist people, and teach them how to look and feel their best, which has been the finest reward of this business.

In celebration of my 10 years organizing wardrobes and styling Vancouverites, Mabelle Style is offering a special promotion!! This offer is for my recurring client base as well as new clients!!

Book a wardrobe consultation and/or shopping day in the month of February and receive 15% off the service package.. your booking must take place anytime between February 1 to April 1.

Also, Mabelle Style offers an extra bonus of an additional 10% off when you refer a client during our anniversary discount month too!!  Wow… 25% off!

So… celebrate with us at Mabelle Style, look and feel your best and save $$ money on costly mistakes!

Personal Shopping – Turtlenecks Can Be Stylish!

Photography: Christine Pienaar

The classic warm and smart looking  turtleneck sweater has made a comeback in men’s fashions recently. I, for one, feel it has brought back memories of my 80’s upbringing.
My family was turtleneck strong as both parents and my brother were often seen wearing them when they ventured out to work, a curling match or a hockey game. I can even remember myself wearing a turtleneck dickey!! (remember those?) Now, decades later, it appears the classic turtleneck is not just for Canadian sporting events but has become a fashion statement for both women and men – I think our fellow Canadian Drake helped the cause by often sporting a turtleneck this winter.
Whether sporting  basic black cotton with a business blazer or a fashionable colour with jeans, turtlenecks are a true collectable item for any fashion conscious person.  If you are looking to make the classic turtleneck stylish again by including it into your wardrobe, check out the outfit below. Mabelle Style recommends items from stores like Club Monaco & Aritzia.

Personal Shopping – How to avoid impulse buys

It’s a new year and a good time to reorganize your wardrobe. At Mabelle Style, we recently had our first wardrobe consultation of the season! The client was new to Mabelle Style and liked to shop, so his consultation was primarily based on a ‘wardrobe’ consultation where we shared an abundance of information on colour choices, fits, styles and creating a personal shopping list.

A wardrobe consultation prevents impulse shopping as it is all about gathering information, knowledge and learning, and then take it all away for your own shopping experiences. These helpful guidelines are for when you are out in the stores not knowing where to begin or what to buy! Without a plan, that’s how most shoppers end up with bags of new items from impulse buying that aren’t enhancing their wardrobe. These items just take up closet space, not making practical sense or adding any value to creating a new look.
A personal shopping list provides guidelines and Mabelle Style ensures that you won’t select the first shirt that you see on sale or a bunch of random t-shirts instead of elevated t-shirts that will really kick your style up a notch. It’s money well spent, and saves on costly mistakes

Personal Shopper – You Can Be A Stylish Mom To!

Mabelle Style has often received special requests and email inquiries from new mom’s who mention that their bodies have changed in shape or size.  Some women feel they have lost sight of what their new style should be or look like.
Recently, one of our clients had brought his wife along with him while we did his personal shop. At the time, she was 7 months pregnant but had thoroughly enjoyed the experience. During this time, she mentioned that she wanted to set a goal for herself to get back to her pre-pregnancy size after the baby arrived and then would follow through with the same services Mabelle Style has provided for her husband.
This past fall we received a call and booked a wardrobe consult and personal shop for this Mom-of-two. During this time, I found her a few great basics for everyday, a leather jacket that really gave her outfits some edge for the go-to comfortable style and a selection of stretchy skinny jeans. The blazers & leather jacket were the perfect updates for layering with t’s and cute graphics. Check out some pictures captured during her personal shop!

Personal Shopper – Wrap 2016 Up With A Bow

mabelle-6‘Bows’ were a top trend in 2016 fall fashions. Most designers showed them as an option in their collections this fall, in a cream silk blouse with a loose bow around the neck. Personally, I didn’t add the bow trend to my wardrobe until I came across this New Years JCrew dress, a few weeks back.

For New Year’s, I prefer dresses that are not overdone or accented with overt-the-top detailing. The dress option (below) comes in a flowy skirt, fitted waist and minimal detail with a perfect loose bow. I added a chic robe-coat to keep me fashionably warm.

Personal Shopper – Winter Wonderland Fashion Post

mabelle-14

With the most recent unusual Vancouver snowy weather it seemed to be a bit of a challenge as to where I was going to do some outfit pictures with http://christinepienaarphotography.com/. When she had been wrapping up another shoot at Deerlake Park in Burnaby she sent me a landscape photo and said meet me here! Turned out to be an amazing backdrop, keep an eye out for a few more outfit post’s coming from this glorious, cold, icy but beautiful place :)

In this shot I have a cozy head piece to go with my Zara bell sleeve sweater, love the sweater so much I got it in two colour! For bottoms I’m wearing my vegan leather leggings from Aritzia, I must in everyone’s wardrobe.

Keep fashionably warm out there!

Personal Shopper – Outfit Combinations For a Men’s Shop!

img_7165

One of the perks with having your own personal shopper is that we do the dirty work for you! By pre pulling and organizing all the items for you to try! We know how overwhelming it can be with the loud music, racks of clothing and the pressure from salespeople. The photo above gives you a glimpse into some of the options pulled together for a recent shop. This client dislikes the mall and every aspect that has to do with shopping and he values his time. We got a few quick candid snaps during the shopping process as seen below. Overall he went home with multiple work and casual outfits to get him thru the next few seasons and avoid the shopping the mall!

Personal Shopper – A Fashion Post On The Little Details

mabelle-oct30-20

I often blog about and talk with clients about the little details with-in your personal style. You don’t have to spend a bunch of money on clothing or have a million different pieces in your closet to have an awesome wardrobe. What it really comes down to is multifunctional items with a unique twist that involves your personal style. That twist comes from small details. In this fashion post I’m seen wearing my staple black pants I wear all the time from http://www.aritzia.com and a comfortable slide from http://www.michaelkors.ca. It’s the sweater from http://www.clubmonaco.com that I needed in my wardrobe. When I saw the small puff on the shoulder and the floral details on the arms that reminded me of needle point. Going from a simple sweater to a sweater with detail really elevated my basic black for fall!
