Shop Spring Trends 2022

Shop 2022 Spring Trends If you have a minimal capsule style wardrobe or prefer classic clean looks, you still want to sprinkle in a trend or two each season. It is a great way to keep your wardrobe up to date and fresh.  I don't suggest shopping every trend or a bunch of trendy pieces each season, only pieces that really suit your personal style and work with your current wardrobe. Not every trend is for everyone! Why? First off, you want to be able to create interchangeable outfits and if your wardrobe is solely based on trendy items, it will become a challenge to create multi-functional looks. Secondly, when your wardrobe is very full, especially with lots of random pieces and you keep adding more items, you won't be able to see what is actually in your wardrobe.  When this happens, people often wear only 20% of their wardrobe, the items they can see and are easy to wear. With that, I am sharing some wearable trends for Spring 2022 that will be easy to work into your wardrobe this season. Check them out below! Spring 2022 COLOURS I often recommend classic neutrals dominate your wardrobe (easiest way to create multi-functional outfits!) But adding a bold pop of colour this Spring 2022 is a

Fashion Stylist | Dress For Your Body Type

Dress For Your Body Type One of the most common challenges I hear from potential clients looking to hire a fashion stylist, "I can't find anything that fits my body type." Insert the expert stylist, I specialize in knowing brands that work for a range of different body types and most importantly I will share styling tricks to ensure your consistently featuring the most flattering areas of your body. When creating/finding a personal style, you first want to have an understanding of your body shape.  Once you have discovered what your body shape is,  you're now one step ahead, making it easier to shop brands that fit and are complimentary, this leads you to feeling more confident in your newly discovered style. Check out the chart above to define your shape and read below to learn style tips that will enhance your style. *Balance your fits, if you're wearing something lose or wide on top, stream line the outfit by having a tailored or cropped bottom,  this creates a slimming effect. If you have a fitted or tucked top add a belt and wear a straight, wide or lose bottom. *Colours and prints, keep it simple by only having three colours max in your outfit (head to toe.) If you incorporate a print,  pull an alternate colour from the print into your

Fashion Stylist | Sneaker Style Tips

Sneaker Style Tips The cool sneaker is no longer just for lounge wear and comfies. Sneaker style has really evolved and taken over any high heel purchases we once made.  Styling the comfortable shoe into a cool street style vibe, business casual or even with an elevated dress or suit is happening...even in the workplace! You may be thinking, I like the idea of a sneaker style but how do I incorporate that look into my personal wardrobe and get it right? A few tips, find yourself a brand & style that you love and make sure the style falls within your budget. I say budget because cool sneakers are ranging from the basic converse at $70 all the way up to designer, starting at $700!  There is a big range in price points for these looks, which is great because everyone has the opportunity to create sneaker style outfits without breaking the budget. For my personal style, I just can't do the chunky sneaker, sometimes called the 'dad' sneaker. I prefer a street style look, effortless like I'm not trying to hard but still speak fashion. I also don't love a lot of branding on the shoes, which designers often do, keep it simple. I've shard some links to my favorite brands in a range of budgets below and Style inspiration to get you started (from pinterest)

Fashion Stylist | Curated Personal Shopping List

My Curated Seasonal Personal Shopping List I recently did a poll on Instagram for what followers would like to see more of and I received an overwhelming response to  share my curated personal shopping list for this Fall. Firstly, why do I make seasonal personal shopping lists for myself and Mabelle Style clients? It's a great way to avoid impulse buys and bad purchases as well as keeps you from buying more then actually need. When you get to a place where you have a wardrobe filled with items you not only love but you actually wear,  you can then follow a curated shopping list each season to shop for items that work with your current wardrobe. You may have a few staples / basics that need replacing (like my boring black puffer coat you'll see below) and you will likely want to add a couple of trendy items to keep the wardrobe refreshed each season.  I also use a unit amount as a guideline so I don't overbuy a specific category. I personally prefer less is more in my wardrobe and I like to invest on better quality items, but it did take me awhile to get my wardrobe to that ideal place.  Once I completed my wardrobe edit last week and pulled some items to consign, I began my list.

Fashion Stylist | Business Casual Style Tips

Style Tips For Business Casual What does business casual mean to you? After a  year & a half of working/stuck at home you're now slowly coming out of the house and maybe even starting with a day or two back in the office or meeting clients face to face. This means the stretchy pants can be shelved (for at least a few days of the week.)  As this transition is happening a lot of workplaces have been adapting their dress codes to a more casual vibe,  insert <business casual>.  A few things may run through your mind during this time.... Do my work clothes still fit?  How do I dress for the office? Or an even deeper thought could be how does one interpret what business casual means in their work place? I'm going to share a few style tips to help you navigate your way through getting business casual right. DETAILS The smallest details can change an entire outfit from unprofessional & schleppy to polished & approachable.  Take tucking for example, it's a simple 2 second step when getting ready in the morning that transforms your look. It could be as simple as a little half tuck to a full tuck & belted. This small detail not only creates a waist it also cleans up

Personal Stylist | What’s Your Personal Style?

What's Your Personal Style? September 13, 2019 Can you think of 3 words that would describe your style? I'd describe my personal style as minimalist, clean & effortless.  I'll give you a few to help out ~ Cool, Polished, Classic, Relaxed, Edgy, Simple, Bold, Quirky, Understated... Do any of these words resonate with you? If not, it wouldn't surprise me if you're thinking 'I'm on this website right now trying to find someone to help me define my personal style!' You may be someone that once had a personal style but as time goes and life changes happen you may have lost your style.  Or you may be someone who has never been able to define a personal style for yourself. Take the first step, start by looking at styles you gravitate to, apps like Pintrist & Instagram can be helpful or think about store brands & celebrity styles you may have liked at some point. Start saving some images and you'll begin to see a trend in style. It could be consistent colours, prints or fits that you're liking. (Tip - Clients often request these celebrities for style goals,  Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow,  Mindy Kaling, Jennifer Aniston, David Beckham & Ryan Reynolds to name a few) Step 2, once you begin seeing trends and styles you like, start to go through

Fashion Stylist | BASICS

Fashion Stylist | Talking Basics BASICS – If you are challenged by building outfits and can’t find anything to wear in a full wardrobe, you’re probably missing the basics! I can’t stress enough how important it is to have quality basics within your wardrobe. As a personal stylist I schedule to meet clients twice a year. (Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter) The first shop, regardless of the season is almost always focused on building basics into their wardrobe. Why? If you’re trying to create a capsule wardrobe or put together outfits and you don’t have that perfect T to layer, a great fitting jean, a classic blazer for day-to-night, then you probably will be unable to pair any of your non-basics pieces.  This often happens because of impulse buys or discount and sale items, clothing that you may think you love but never know how to wear it. Check out images of the must-have basics I would suggest for your wardrobe below…. for both the men and women. STYLE TIP I’m a firm believer in quality over quantity, especially for basics. These are items that you will be wearing most often! You don’t need to break-the-bank account, just be mindful to invest a bit more in quality to ensure they last. Think ‘price-per-wear’ Stick to neutral colours for basics, white, navy, black, gray, beige etc.

Style Tips For Spring

Style Tips For Spring Having trends in your wardrobe or trying to be trendy isn't always the answer to being stylish or fashionable.  I like to suggest that clients first focus on a well rounded wardrobe that doesn't evolve around trends, basics & investment pieces are much more important.  That being said, regardless of how minimal your wardrobe may be, having elements from current trends is important to add in a foundation or capsule wardrobe to keep your style fresh & updated. Keep in mind some trends stick around for awhile and can often be considered investment pieces, but I wouldn't suggest packing your closet every season with all the current trends. Remember not every trend is for everyone! Check out some of my favorite style trends for Spring 2021 below. Updated Trench Coat The classic trench coat is getting a do-over this season with new details to elevate the style. Keep an eye out for bold shoulders, cinched waists and over-sized cuts giving lots of movement to a traditionally structured spring coat. Strong Shoulder & Puff Sleeve By no means am I saying the 80's shoulder pad is back! But a strong shoulder is for both casual or dressed-up. You will find sweatshirts
