Style & Quiet Luxury

Style & Quiet Luxury Quiet luxury fashion & style has been around forever, it was a style that emulated old money, minimalist outfitting with luxurious fabrics. Recently there is an uptick in quiet luxury, it’s being talked about all over the media.  If you hadn’t heard of quiet luxury in the past I’m sure you’ve heard about it recently with all the talk of Gwyenth Paltrow's courtroom outfits she wore to her recent trial.  She has always dressed in this style, but the media spread really caught wind of what she was wearing by sharing the brands & price points of each outfit. They were all high ticket, luxurious fabrics and designer labels. Sophisticated, timeless and understated.  The idea behind those looks & what the definition of quiet luxury is ‘if you know you know’, no need for logos.  Were you someone who oohed and awed at Gwyneth's courtroom style? Or, are you loving the style in Succession right now? But, thinking how on earth can I achieve this quiet luxury look within a budget. Well, my personal style has always been about looking polished, paying attention to fabrics & fits and shopping for designer brands that have simple designs. I like to have longevity with the pieces I spend most on while still  maintaining a minimalist style within budget.  What are the

Spring Trends 2023 As you dive into this blog and see what the latest trends are for this upcoming Spring/Summer season please remember, don't go overboard with seasonal trends. Always build your wardrobe off foundation pieces (think capsule style wardrobe) then each season sprinkle in a trend or two that compliments your personal style and current wardrobe, making it easy to create interchangeable outfits. Also, make note that not every trend is for everyone! Adding seasonal trends can freshen up  your wardrobe and keep your personal style looking current. If you're someone who isn't interested in trends and enjoys adding classic pieces each season take note, loafers, cool sneakers, vegan leather and oversize looks are still on point and will easily keep your wardrobe feeling fresh & up to date. Check out some of my favorite trends to add into your wardrobe this Spring/Summer! Ballet Flats This is a trend that I'm definitely happy has made a comeback, I remember wearing my Tory Burch soles down to nothing in the early 2000's. Tory Burch has stayed consistent with her ballet flat the Reva, it's stuck around even when flats weren't on trend, because as much as the style seemed dated they were comfortable! When a trend comes back full circle and is super comfy how can we

Stylist | Dressing For Your Next Event

Styling for your next event Wedding guest, in a wedding party, fundraiser, gala, milestone birthday, events have made a comeback and finding the perfect outfit has never been harder! Why? When you haven't needed an outfit for a special gathering or big event for the past three years you'll notice things have changed. Walking through the typical stores like Nordstroms or The Bay, they have very little options, buying less event & party pieces ever since the  pandemic.  Also, you may find your shape or size has changed over time and wonder what style or fit you should even be trying! These challenges are the reason I created a virtual event shopping package, you may think why virtual? With stores not having the options or styles they once had, I found online has an abundance of choices.  How does styling for an event work? It's when Mabelle Style sources head to toe personalized outfits for you, ensuring the small details really matter. The perfect look for an event takes time but also finding the jewelry, shoe & hand bag to correlate with the outfit can be even harder.  With this custom package clients receive 3-4 head to toe outfits personalized for them to shop and the best part is receiving a visual of each look on a mood board, this shows how the entire look ties together. Personal Stylist | All In The Details The most important steps for understanding how to elevate ones personal style are: Knowing your body shape & sizing, detailing your outfits to add dimension and incorporating subtle accessories to each look.  I'm sharing with you some of my favorite little details I like to teach my clients at their styling consultations as well as what accessories you should add into your wardrobe.  If you're wondering, what about the body shape part? Styling For You 2023

Styling For You 2023 As we head into 2023 there has been a lot of talk about what the New Year's resolution will be or what you're going to set goals and focus on. We have heard friends and family say that they will be joining a new gym or starting a new diet. There is nothing wrong with that thought process, but what if the resolution was more focused on feeling & looking great in your existing size & shape;  no need to change, just elevate. One of the most rewarding moments I have heard from clients who take the leap with a stylist, is how confident they feel once they have a wardrobe that fits their personal body shape after they learn all the little styling details on how to elevate their day-to-day outfitting. When I say inclusive sizing, I am referring to clients working with Mabelle Style who range in sizes from size 00-24. They share the same result, feeling great in their own skin once the service is complete. A main question from clients who are inquiring about hiring a stylist is ... 'Have you worked with a client that's my size?' This question frequently comes up regarding all different sizes especially  from women 12-14. To give you an idea,  sizes 10-14 were the most common sizes with Mabelle style

Fashion Stylist | Create A Capsule Wardrobe

Create A Capsule Wardrobe A capsule wardrobe may seem boring, but here is thing; no matter what your personal style is, if you don't have some sort of capsule with in your wardrobe you will have trouble creating full outfits. If you're someone who is constantly saying 'I have nothing to wear',  then I'd suggest it's time to create a capsule wardrobe. Once you have the foundation, then your pieces are simply easy to create interchangeable outfits and you are able to add more of your personal style into the mix. How would I define a capsule wardrobe? Less is more. Quality over quantity. A versatile, interchangeable wardrobe. Also, price per wear is an important point to mention. You will wear everything in your capsule because it's easier to interchange. Spending on quality will now make more sense. Wondering how to create a Capsule Wardrobe?  The first step is to clean out your current wardrobe. Get rid of the items you don't love, don't fit and don't wear anymore. You will create more space and recognize what currently works. Prepare a shopping list for the missing pieces. There is no specific number of items for a capsule wardrobe, the goal would be to start with a two week rotation of outfits and build on that each season. What should be on your shopping

Personal Stylist | Investing In Your Wardrobe

TIME TO INVEST IN YOUR WARDROBE What areas of my wardrobe do I need to invest in? When clients book personal shopping packages, under the 'what's your budget' question in the questionnaire they often answer I don't know, because they have no idea what the cost would be to put together new outfits and a wardrobe for the season. One area of my job as a stylist is to educate them on what categories they need to invest in (pay a little bit more) and what categories they can save in.  I'm going to share with you the top categories I suggest investing a bit more and why. Always be mindful of price per wear when investing, if you're going to use or wear something specific all the time then it's worth spending a bit more for best fits, quality etc. Also, don't forget quality over quantity.  If you tend to have too much stuff in your wardrobe and you end up wearing only the 20% you can see, the rest gets hidden or stuck in the back of the closet. Before I run through my top investment categories, here is a little food for thought to give you an idea of what clients spend during a personal shopping package, remember this is for a seasonal wardrobe update, which means about a 2 week rotation

Travel In Style

It finally seems like travel is back, with long lines up to get your passport, long lineups for quick drives to the boarder, or long line ups at the airport. Whichever way your travelling right now, it's busy. Before you head out for your next trip, the stresses of packing begin.  What am I going to wear? How can I pack less? As you go through your vacation clothes that haven't been worn in the past two+ years, you may be thinking, do these even fit anymore? Are any of these clothes cool anymore? To get you on the right track, I'm sharing some packing tips and must-have seasonal trends for your travels. *Make a list. Write down what you wear each day / evening and only pack those items. *Have shoes that can mix & match with different outfits as you never want to pack a ton of shoes, they take up so much space! *Pack top & bottom sets and monochromatic pieces (meaning 2-3 colours per outfit that can mix and match.) This can simplify making interchangeable outfits and help you pack a little less. *Roll instead of fold all the apparel going into the luggage, this will create more space. Below I've shared some images of my must haves for travelling ~ Longchamp large bag. It folds up into your luggage, it fits a lot

Fashion Stylist | Shop With Intention

Shop with intention What does it mean to shop with intention? Go into the stores or begin your online search with a plan. Know your style, what you want/need and what styles fit you best before you start. You will end up making the best purchases for your wardrobe, you will LOVE how you feel in your outfits and you can stop making those impulse buys. Check out my tips below, if followed you will be shopping with intention before you know it! Each season create a shopping list of the items you need to update/refresh your wardrobe.  If you're unsure how to build this list, do a read through on trends that are happening for the season and go through your current wardrobe to see what you'd like to update.  When it's time to shop, pull out your list and shop for only those items. You will be more focused, avoid making impulse or bad purchases. Having a shopping budget for the season, with an idea of which items you'd like to spend more on (investments) and the pieces you know you can save on. You could do a budget per item or have a total budget for the season, which ever works best for you. When creating a budget think price per wear and quality over quantity. Don't buy it just because
